Mid 80's, I was just out of high school, lived with my best friend in our first apartment. Went out dancing 3-4 times a week with a group of friends (and still made it to work the next morning). Went to lots of concerts and saw all of the bands we loved (mostly 80's alternative stuff) and just had fun!!

I was never baptized so I always assumed there was something wrong with me but I never felt comfortable calling anyone "brother or sister" or using the phrase "in the truth"

I haven't been to meetings (except memorial) in a couple years so I'm out of touch with what is allowed and what isn't. Didn't the gb tell people not to join facebook? I'm assuming this must have changed? -

I have tried to discuss a few of the points that DesirousOfChange suggested and it is like talking to a brick wall. The fact that they claim to be the ONLY spokesperson(s) for god - yet as more and more time passes they are proven wrong should be enough to wake him up. I honestly don't know how to get through to him. -

by freemindfade ini know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

Sadly, my spouse is planning on giving more. I guess he truly believes that the gb telling him to give more is the same as god telling him to give more. I'm both saddened and frustrated that he can't think for himself.

Kingdom Hall loans Cancelled? Lurkers...please read
by ToesUp ini hope that writing this, there will be some lurkers that i can shake.. if you have not listened to mays tv broadcast, please do.
it may wake some up.. note @ around 21-22 minutes into the broadcast lett brings up the the kingdom halls/assembly hall loans have been cancelled and the congregation can now send in what they can afford.
wow...how many banks would do that?.

I'm a UBM and I hear these types of explanations way too often. "On my way to work this morning satan made the light turn red cause he is trying to make me late for work. Then jehovah made the next light green cause he is trying to help me get to work on time"
It makes me want to scream!

Reverse Witnessing Strategies When You Meet People Studying With JWs!

i was pretty effective, i think he's going to quit his study and got his phone number in case this guy needs additional information.
he wants to believe in jesus christ, he's working for the government with a great job so it came as a surprise to him he is going to have to quit his job if he is to become a jehovah's witness.

I wish I would have had someone around to point out certain things to me when I was studying. Had that been the case I would have cancelled it sooner than I did. I had some doubts at the time but I didn't have any scriptural knowledge (still don't) and they seemed to understand it all. Without anyone around to tell me otherwise I started believing them. -

I am trying to stay hopeful but at the same time am very worried that our marriage will end in divorce over this. We are each going in such different directions now. I admire those of you on here that are able to make it work when one is in and the other is out.
